Throughout 2017, Eurovision Union was dedicated in bringing you Weekly Playlists with new music from Eurovision and National Final stars, new and old, as well as stars we’d love to see at Eurovision one day! We made so many musical discoveries, and through 2018, we want to share with you which songs we’ve been loving! Some songs will come and go, and some will stick around – here are our Eurovision Union Chart Toppers!
1. Tifældigt – Basim (↑1)
He’s spent this entire year in our Top 5 most played songs with one of his three new releases, but yet hasn’t cracked that elusive number 1 place, until now. It was the song we said would probably need to grow on us, and boy did it do that. Addicted.
2. Serio – Emis Killa feat. Capo Plaza (↓1)
It’s fallen one spot since our last chart toppers, but this song is still getting an unhealthy amount of repeats each day. There’s something about this song that gets the blood pumping, perhaps the seriousness (pun intended) of the sound of this song, but it really does have a catchy melody.
3. Dance You Off – Benjamin Ingrosso (NEW)
A miracle happened in the last two weeks since our last Chart Toppers, and that’s the Melfest song releases on Spotify. If you know us, you know that Benjamin Ingrosso is our main go-to for the best of the best pop music, so unsurprisingly he is making his debut in our Top 5 Chart Toppers with this absolute bop of a song.
4. Every Single Day – Felix Sandman (NEW)
It’s all systems go for the Melodifestivalen songs this year, and although we didn’t love the overall contest this year in comparison to previous years, there were still some real gems in amongst it all. Felix Sandman is definitely one of them. This is emotional, it’s moving and god damn the melody is an absolute earworm.
5. In My Cabana – Margaret (NEW)
We can safely call this our guilty pleasure of this Melfest season, as sure, the live performance is a bit so-so, but I’ve been taking this for what it is – an on trend, catchy pop song. If you can hold back from singing along with this, you’ve got serious self-control!
6. Comme Ci Comme Ça – Basim (=)
We’ve written about this song every Chart Toppers thus far, so we’re running out of things to say about this diamond. Settle in y’all because at this stage we can’t envisage Basim not being in our Top 10 for a long while.
7. Aji Aji – Basim (=)
*cough cough* an album please Basim, the sooner the better *cough cough*
8. Mamma Mia – LOUKA (=)
Destination Eurovision feels like a bit of a distant memory, but Mamma Mia has emerged as the one true love from the French national final this year. Sure, we enjoy some of the other songs too, as shown by our previous Chart Toppers posts, but this is the one that’s sticking with us.
9. All The Feels – Renaida (NEW)
Admittedly, the song title All the Feels is somewhat off-putting, but if you look past the very Gen Z song title, you’ll get incredible vocals with an incredible beat and hook. This is a bit tribal, and a bit soulful, and quite frankly, this gives us all the feels. Sorry, not sorry.
10. Perdonami – Salmo (↑2)
This track has been a constant fixture in our Chart Toppers this year, and like Basim, we don’t see this dropping off anytime soon.
11. Outlaw In ‘Em – Waylon (NEW)
The Netherlands have hit the Eurovision jackpot this year with this song. It’s not to everyone’s tastes, but we’ve been eating this up for breakfast. It’s a little bit rock, it’s a lot a bit country, but at the core it’s got a good melody and a killer chorus. This is going to be epic in Lisbon, mark my words.
12. Guersace – Gue Pequeno (↓1)
Speaking of a killer chorus, we’ve said week after week that we love this tune for its chorus, and that hasn’t changed. This is one of those feel good songs for us, and it has been in our Chart Toppers for a while now, so we won’t go into too much more detail than that!
13. Frida (mai, mai, mai) – The Kolors (↓10)
Will the true winner of Sanremo stand up? Yes, we said it, this should have won. This could have been no less than epic on the Eurovision stage. It’s youthful but mature, if possible, and something totally unexpected from the band who have previously come out with some of the catchiest pop music. This is our Sanremo winner.
14. Won’t Let You Go – Poptracker feat. Nathan Trent (↑6)
This track from 2017 Eurovision artist Nathan Trent was originally a bit of an afterthought for us, but the Nathan Trent magic has got us hooked in. It’s not a song we can listen to all the time but in certain occasions, we need a bit of a cheesy beat.
15. Last Breath – LIAMOO (NEW)
Watch out Benjamin Ingrosso, because LIAMOO is quickly rising to be one of our favourite Swedish pop artists. If you haven’t worked it out just yet, we love our mix of rap and pop here at Eurovision Union, so this song fits right in. I’d give up my last breath, just sayin’.
16. Stavo Pensando A Te – Fabri Fibra feat. Tiziano Ferro (↓6)
This song has also been a constant fixture in our Chart Toppers, so we’ll leave the description of this song to a minimum. Let’s just say we don’t think it’s going to drop off the radar just yet.
17. Talk to the Hand – Aleksander Walmann (↓8)
As soon as we hear that bass, the sass levels increase and we are in full bop mode. We’ll be pretty disappointed if this doesn’t make it to Eurovision this year (although if Scandilove made it to Eurovision instead I could possibly forgive Norway) – so Norway, do us proud.
18. Lie to Me – Mikolas Josef (NEW)
Czech Republic is definitely serving up one of the hot favourites for Eurovision 2018, and it’s pretty easy to see why. This really is All Aboard bop city, and although we’ve been caught up in all the new Eurovision releases, we’ve returned to mum’s spaghetti.
19. Cry – Dotter (NEW)
Sweden, you committed an atrocity. How this song didn’t make the Melfest final, or at least Andra Chansen has got us completely shook. This is a fresh and complete catch of a song with a killer vocal, and I’ll never understand why this was left in the semi-final.
20. Goodbye – The Humans (NEW)
This Eurovision track from Romania isn’t getting the best of reviews, quite honestly, but for once we’re siding with Romania because this is pretty great. I mean, what a voice?! This has been stuck in our head for a while, and with only a few songs left to be revealed for 2018, we think this might be one of our favourites to qualify going into the contest.
